BILAC Board of Directors



The Big Island Liturgy & Arts Center is a registered non-profit 501C3 organization started by friends of Rev. George DeCosta, Retired Pastor of the Diocese of Honolulu and former pastor of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church in Keokaha, Hilo. Donations to BILAC are tax-deductible. The BILAC mailing address is: BILAC, P. O. Box 706, Volcano, Hawaii, 96785.

Vice President: Sister Louise Bullis, M.M.

Secretary/Treasurer* : Paulette Ching

* Former Treasurer: Nona Wilson. She resigned due to assumption of her new position as Chief of Nursing, Ka'u Hospital in mid-2005. In early 2006, Lon & Carol Hocker, founding members of the BILAC Board and owners of the Hale Lokahi property, officially donated the property to the BILAC 501C3 corporation, and by law, they had to withdraw from the Board. Also, Dr. David Drury and Asifa Kanji distinguished members of the founding board have stepped aside to make room for new members as noted below.

Members on the current Board are: Curtis Beck (Chair, Malia Puka Okalani Catholic Church Parish Council), Dr. Larry & Lucia Samuels, Nancy Pearson, Linda Ugalde, Tom Lane, Mary Anne Lane, Glenn Carvalho, and Anson Chong. Note: Board members serve for 2-year terms on a staggered basis.

The full-time Artist in Residence is Joseph K. Camacho, Music Composer, Musician and Hula Instructor.
